Brooklyn Egg Cream

This is the classic version of the egg cream, sparking passionate discussions about its origins and preparation methods. It’s a mildly sweet, fizzy beverage that you can savor at any time, containing roughly the same number of calories as a slice of buttered toast.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. cold whole milk
  • 2 Tbsp. cold whole milk
  • 3/4 c. plain cold seltzer
  • 3 Tbsp. chocolate syrup (Fox’s U-Bet chocolate syrup is recomended

Instructions

Pour the milk into an egg cream glass. Add seltzer water until froth reaches the top. Pour the syrup into the center of the glass. Gently insert the back of a spoon into the center of the drink and rock it back and forth, focusing on the bottom of the glass. This will mix the syrup without disturbing the froth. Serve immediately.
